college street

The fabric of a city can often be seen in its photograpy. I like to think of these photos as the fibres of that fabric. From the palette of garbage, and the abandoned elastic band to the palimpsest of a postered hydro pole, it is all stained, colourful and weirdly fascinating.

Angela Iarocci took these photos of College Street in March, 2003 as part of her work at Giannone Associates. The idea was to capture a small piece or texture of a neighbourhood. None of these photos have been altered or corrected, some are still the wrong way round, yet this preserves the photos in the oder they were taken to help put you there, on that grey day last winter on a short stretch of College Street, Toronto.
